Real Talk

Real Talk is a space for teacher-to-teacher honesty — the conversations we rarely get in PD. This series dives into the real emotional work of being a CTE teacher: burnout, balance, confidence, overwhelm, breakthroughs, shop culture, and the moments that shape who we are in the classroom. No jargon. No judgment. Just clarity, support, and practical ideas from someone who’s lived it.

We’ve all experienced the negatives and positives of pressure. Too much and you feel you can’t cope. Not enough, and you struggle to get anything done.

Aiming for the sweet spot in the middle, where the right pressure equals peak performance and health, takes careful self-management and practice.

The pressure performance curve is a management tool that can help. Its zones of comfort and stretch show the path to peak performance, avoiding the dangers of boreout, burnout, and the zone of delusion along the way.
